Ok, I think this is going to truly be my last post of the day but I need some help from you guys. I need to know about "commenting". I truly want to comment and carry on dialogue with each and every person that takes the time to stop in and comment on any post that I make.
I've left comments under the comments and I've popped over to their blogs and left comments and some people I've emailed, if that was an option and some I've done both. I don't want to overdo it; but I want to make sure that everyone sees my comments back to them and knows that I care they they have taken time to leave one. Any advice on how I should be doing this? I'm not sure that everyone gets the follow up comments after they have left a comment somewhere. Any help you can give me will be appreciated. This is all new to me but I will figure it out eventually. Thanks, in advance!! Candace~♥
Hi Candace,
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice of bloggers to leave follow-up comments at least a few times, if not regularly. But not all bloggers follow the courtesies :) Also, people may have time constraints. You visited my blog and i am not sure if i left a follow-up comment..lol, but now i had the time so i am popping by :)
Also, there is a box that you have to check to be able to receive the follow-up comments, hope you have that checked to able to receive email notification when you receive a follow-up comment.
Hope this helps a bit :)
Hey Candace, I always try to comment back when people post on my page, because I too enjoy the dialogue. I think it is good to be able to engage your readers.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that some people have a "subscribe to follow up comments" option. That way you can know when the writer has posted a comment or other has posted a comment. (I have not added this yet)
Hope that helps.
Hi. I used to simply carry on a dialogue on my blog in the comments section. People would comment on my blog, I would comment back on my blog. Then it occurred to me that once they've taken the time to comment, they don't have time to keep checking my blog to see if I've commented back. SO, I started doing like others: My e-mail always notifies me when someone has left a comment. IF that person has an e=mail address I can respond to, then I do that. If they only have in their return address, then I click on their name which takes me to their blog and I can simply comment back. it's not as nice as a dialogue, but I figure there's a reason some people don't want to have their email address out there. It takes extra time to do this, but it's worth it. :-)
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing the above commenter does. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to go back and revisit blogs to follow up on comments. I do like the feature where you can check if you want to follow that blogger's comments, but I don't think blogger has that option.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your help! I like to comment here so that anyone reading knows that I do comment back and I am very interested in everyone that decides to stop by and comment. I have been popping over and commenting on the commenters' blogs and/or sometimes email if that's an option. In other words, I've been doing it all. I was just curious if there was a better way to manage it all.
ReplyDeleteI do have it checked to receive email when someone comments and that seems to be working fine....so that's good! I didn't have that set at first so I might have missed a fewin the beginning; but that's all fixed now, I think.
You guys are so sweet to help me and I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Hope you are enjoying your weekend. My son is home...yay! I'm going to watch a movie with the family....and I will answer you all back personally before I sleep tonight. Candace~♥
What you are doing sounds good and I try to do what Cranberry Morning and Mary do.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, thanks so much for your input! I'm going to take all advice and continue covering all my bases. I really appreciate it when someone takes the time to stop in here and when they leave a comment, that's even more special. Hope you are having a great weekend! Candace
ReplyDeleteHi Candance,
ReplyDeleteFor everyone stops in and leave a comment, I always try to visit them back and also leave them a comment, but never replies comments in my post that they've visit because I realize they probably wouldn't have the time to re-visit my blog. Just same thing like Cranberry Morning did...
Usually, I try to always shoot them back a comment if they leave me one that goes to my email. I think it's just something nice to do.
ReplyDeleteBlogging really is such a community isn't it? If I like a blog I comment right on their post. Unless I have a personal question or a lengthy point I don't see the need to send an actual email. I like to reply to comments on my blog also, but can't be sure people will check back on them (blogger doesn't have the option to email them with follow ups)...so I find the safest option is to comment on their posts...
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time with this too, due to time constraints. I will sit up til 3 am reading blogs...it's hard to comment everywhere, and harder to follow up! I just joined Twitter, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all of your comments! This has really been weighing on my mind because I know that it's important. So you will see my posts here in the comments section and if you have an email address that I can contact you at, you will most probably get an email too...and if not, I'm sure you will hear from me on your blog. At least for the time being, I think that's how I'm going to handle it.
ReplyDeleteThanks again, so much!! Candace~♥
