I am so happy that you have landed in my little corner of cyberspace. If you join me here, you will, hopefully, get to know a little about me. You will read my thoughts, my hopes and dreams, and see some of my favorite things. I hope you will visit often. I will try to update it regularly and hopefully you will see an improvement in the blog along the way. Thank you for stopping in to see me as I travel on this journey called "life"!

Ready, set, rewind....

Time just floats away these days.....

At least, that is the way that it seems.  My question is....
Where does it go?

I realized tonight that I haven't actually posted anything on this old blog since June 20th.

June 20th!
Seriously?

Something has got to change.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately.

a.lot.of.thinking

How I started this blog.....what I've done with it....what I haven't done with it....the tangents that I've taken....and last but not least, how do I get started again?  How do I catch up?  Do I catch up?  Do I start over?  Can I even start over?

Where do we go from here?

I've been terrible about posting.  I've been terrible about visiting you.  I've been terrible about reading and replying to email.  I am so sorry about that.  Many of you have emailed me to check on me and to say hello.  Thank you so much for that!   I never anticipated the number of people that I would meet when I started this blog and the number that I would eventually call "my friends".

I have been considering this blog for awhile.  Every day that has ended without me writing one single word or posting one "wordless" photo post, has found me thinking about this blog and where I'm going to go with it.  I have thought of telling you that I'm taking a break from the blog if only to alleviate the guilt I have been feeling over my lack of posting.  I am quite sure you have figured out that I have been on hiatus and quite frankly, I feel like that season in my life is over.

Lately, we have been going for walks in the evening.  On one of those evening strolls, while considering my life and this blog, I have decided that the guilt is over and it is time to take action.  I'm going back to the beginning and I'm going to sit down and type.  Maybe I won't sit down and write something every day.  I'm not going to pressure myself into being religious about when and how often and what I will post.  I'm just going to start doing it more often.   I'm going to see what happens with it.

Once upon a time, this was fun.  It was a creative outlet for me and I used it as such.  It is time to get back to that.   I ventured off into food blogging like so many others and that was fun.   That is, also, not going to change.  David and I love food.  We love to cook.....we love to eat....we love to share that with friends and family.  That's a huge part of who I am so I will continue to share that here.  I still love taking photos and traveling so that's still going to be here, as well.  I am, also, going to start writing from my heart because there's a lot of stuff that I need to say.  You may not need to hear it; but, I definitely need to say it.  Some of it may be interesting to you.  Some of it may not be interesting at all.  That is okay.  This blog was started for me without an idea that anyone would ever read it.  I am going back to that place.

During this break that I have been on, life has not stopped for one moment.  While I have not been sharing things here with you, food has still been prepared and photographed and eaten and enjoyed.  We have gone places and done things and photographed our journey along the way.  We have discovered yummy restaurants and traveled roads we have never been on before.  I'm going to start rewinding and writing about what we have been experiencing.   We are not just going to go backwards though.  We are going to continue forward enjoying life because as someone wise used to tell me....

"Life is meant to be lived not endured"
and...
I couldn't agree more.

  1. You always write from your heart, whether it's a photo caption or a recipe or an email ... that's just one of the many things I, and your other friends, love about you. You've been missed! It's good that life has taken you in so many intriguing directions; but the rest of us miss going on the trip with you. So whenever you have a chance to pop in and share your adventures, know that we're all thrilled to read what you share. But, like with all dear friends, whenever you come back it's just as though you've never left ... :)

  2. Hi Candace! Glad to see you've returned, we missed you! I've been trying to post more on my blog since I've not been working and I'm getting to it somewhat. I feel an absence when I don't write as well, so I understand your feeling there. We'll be excited to go with you on your new (or is it old?) direction and see where it takes you! Peace to you, ~Vonnie

  3. Hi Candace! You've been missed and I completely get where you are coming from. I find it much easier to post in the winter months than summer and there are times I have no desire to post at all. So whenever you decide to post, your friends are here to always see you :)

  4. Glad to see you! :-) I completely understand...time does seem to just float away. I've been feeling the same way. Trying to decide whether to get back into it or give it up. I tend to lean toward give it up, but then this little voice tells me it's about the only thing in my life that I do just for me and just because I enjoy that and I shouldn't give that up. I so enjoy your posts, whether they be photos, recipes, or just what's on your mind that day, so I'll be glad to see them, whether they're daily, or weekly, or monthly, or twice a year...whatever you do!! I'm thankful to get to share the journey with you!

  5. Every day, I have checked to see if you have posted anything new...because it is so unlike you not to post something. Of course, I knew you were engrossed in living life...and that truly is what it is all about isn't it? But I am glad to see you will be returning to the wonderful world of blogging. I am interested in what you have to share with us...no matter what that may be (though your food photos always make me hungry) Definitely look forward to continuing the adventure with you! Big hugs sweets...xoxo Mitzi

  9. Girlfriend, I totally understand. I've felt the same way. For so long I was dealing with having the house on the market, doing open houses, looking for a new place, packing, moving, unpacking, settling in...the list goes on. Somehow blogging wasn't important. I missed it, but always found a reason to "wait". I'm gradually getting back to it, but it still isn't first on my to do list. Plus, I'm dealing with a summer cold/sinus problem right now. So glad you're coming back too.

    Hugs,
    Kat

  10. It's so hard to get back in the swing of things. I'm so used to routine, that when things go astray I get a little crazy. You would think at this stage in the game I would realize that, that's apart of life. So glad to see you back. I can see how much you've been enjoying your husband and granddaughter!

  11. I think everyone has their own reasons for blogging and sometimes that means taking a break and living life.

Truly - the main reason I do my blog? It's a living journal of my life that I hope my future (like way future!) grandkids and see that I do swear like a drunken sailor, and that's okay!

    Hugs!

  13. It's sad when your blog starts to feel like an obligation! I went through that last summer and I considered quitting many times. But in the end, I shifted to a focus that worked better for me. I hope you're able to get your groove back too!

  14. Know what? I think many of us have been in that exact same spot. The day the blog controls us, rather than us controlling it, is the day we should stop blogging. And maybe that's all what we do from time to time. And then when we feel like it, we start again. There shouldn't have to be apologies. After all, it is just a blog. Real life has to take precedence and be lived. :-)
