Photo of the day......

The colors are beautiful and just beginning to show around here.  The sun was really too bright to get a good photograph on Sunday when I saw this tree gracefully hanging over the Sugar River.  I couldn't help but ask David to stop so that I could run down the side of the road and try to get a photo of it.

It seems early; but my mother-in-law told me last year that the "swamp maples" turn before the other trees and August is not too early for that to happen.  Last year was not such a great year for color in my opinion.  I have seen it much prettier up here.  It has been so dry up here as it has been in most, if not all, of the country.  I'm not sure how that will affect the fall colors.   We will see.

I am a bit ambivalent about seeing the color already this year.  It has been a great summer even if it has been hot and humid.  We have gotten to do a lot of fun things and enjoyed being outdoors a lot this year.  As much as I like the cooler weather and all things "fall", I am reluctant to let summer go right now.  I think I will just continue to photograph the beautiful color and appreciate God's artistry when I see it.

Have a beautiful day, friends....
Time for work!

  1. Beautiful pictures Candice. How I miss living on the east coast in the fall, walking through the piles of leaves and enjoying apple crisp when we get home!

  2. I, too, am seeing the first signs of fall, but I think I am looking forward to it. Our summer has been so hot with drought conditions and I'm ready for a little relief. And, this will be Emmett's first Christmas, so I am excited for that :-)

  7. Oh, it's so, so pretty! But the changing colors do, indeed, say "Summer is over." But, there's so much still to do! And we don't want cold weather or snow! Despite what it brings later on, one has to just stop and admire the beauty of fall having one last grand hurrah in all its glory before the leaves go away ....

  9. We are just beginning to see a hit of gold in our back woods. I love the colors of fall and am ready for the humidity to drop. We've had a sticky weekend!

  10. The leaves are changing in Maine. It seems almost overnight although we have been having nights in the 40's so I shouldn't be surprised.
