The Merry Month of May....2012

May began with a visit from a dear friend from Louisiana.  We had a couple of days to just spend some time together and catch up.  I loved it.  She happened to be here on the 5th of May which brought a Perigee "super moon" into the night sky.  We were on the New Hampshire coast visiting with some of her family that evening and got to witness the beginning of it on the beach.

We didn't stay long enough to see it in its full glory; but we did manage to take a few pics over the ocean.  It was gorgeous that night.

Spring was definitely in the air this month and I was able to try ramps for the first time.  Love.  I can't wait to have them again.

May is, also, fiddlehead season in New England and David was able to go out with the kids to their secret spot and harvest some.  We threw them into some pasta with olive oil, garlic and some of the ramps.

May found us gearing up for summer.  The deck furniture was moved out of the basement.  The tiki torches were attached to the deck and we began to spend a little more time outdoors.  Finally.

Since we were spending time outside more, we were definitely grilling more and pizza was something we enjoyed.    Grilled Veggie and Feta.  Yum!

It was time for another cooking party, as well, and gnocchi was the menu per my request.  Chef Son-in-Law came over and the guys made Sweet Potato Gnocchi while the girls got a chance to visit.   These were pretty bad Iphone photos; but the gnocchi was amazing.

It was topped with a sauce that had butter and applewood smoked bacon and fresh sage and shallots.  Did I say amazing?

With the wonderful weather, we were definitely getting out of the house more.  David surprised me with a Saturday date to Manchester where we toured the Currier Museum of Art.

The Currier Museum is wonderful in its own right; but it has in its collection the Zimmerman House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Getting to tour a Frank Lloyd Wright home
was a dream come true.

Thank you, David!

Last but definitely not least, our little princess
turned 2 in the month of May.

Can you believe that?

Granna and Pops celebrated by getting
her a pretty pink tricycle.

And she's off!
